What type (name) of the BCP is it?? I presume that there are actually four different colors pill, right? Those who are related in color (blue and green, for example) are the active pills containing hormones, and those that do not match (white, pink, yellow, brown) are placebos or markers of place to stay on track to take pills every day and when to start the next packet. If you are using a guy who has three weeks in one color and one week of another color, then 3 weeks of the same are the active pills and the week is your week of placebo. Pills contain active hormones and trick the body into thinking it is pregnant so they do not produce and release an egg for fertilization. Taken daily, are very effective (about 98%). EDIT: Mircette (generic and Kariv) are mono-phasic pills, and the second kind I have described. The three weeks of one color are active pills containing hormones, the last row (the last 5 pills more specifically) is the week of placebo (when you your period).
