How good of a diet pill is Dexedrine? What to do to help you lose weight?

I was perscribed Dexedrine by my doctor for anxiety and Weight Loss. I'm depressed / anxious because I'm overweight. How good is Dexedrine to lose weight? Is it just reduce appetite? Does it help speed up the metabolism? (I'm on 10 mg) Thanks.

Dexedrine is an amphetamine. It is primarily used for AHDH along with Ritalin and Benzedrine which are also amphetamines. All amphetamines increase your Heart Rate and blood pressure and decrease appetite. Although it is a stimulant, but may have a calming effect on your mood. While I think it's a little weird to hear your prescription for anxiety, if you stick with the recommended dose, it is perfectly safe and very old and well studied drug. That being said, losing weight through stimulants / appetite suppressants is less preferable than other recipes available, such as Xenical and of course, a good portion control and exercise of age.
